My Storyboard And Script For My Documentary

Image
I drew this storyboard on Paint 3D So my first shot will be of my desk and I will pair it with some facts and statistics about young people and technology. I will also do an introduction where I explain what I'm doing for the documentary. My next shot will be of me speaking about things I do and why I do them to educate the viewer a little bit more about my life. After that I will do a few shots of me leaving my house to go to college. I will use my tripod to try and capture various angles. I will then go into more depth about my YouTube career, and how I have progressed as a content creator and why I like it. After that I will show people the negative effects of technology and social media and how it can damage your mental health. Finally I will wrap up the documentary with a hard hitting, dramatic outro. My Script In 2020 a study suggested that a whopping 97% of young people used technology on a daily basis a figure that has continued to increase over the last decade where we hav...

Planning My Filming Schedule

Image
Filming Schedule So for my filming schedule I intend to film my documentary in my house as well as maybe film some shots in college.  I'm hoping to get various shots of the behind the scenes footage of what videos I make to show people what I do. I will film these shots using my old phone and I hope to capture some realistic footage.  I also plan to film some interview style shots where I will talk about my opinions and stories as well as explain what is going on in certain scenes.  To make the documentary feel more professional I might also film some cinematic style shots to link scenes and add a bit of flair. I hope to be able to film and edit my documentary in a way in which it looks professional.  I plan to film this documentary on a college day at the moment I'm thinking maybe Wednesday 6th April however I might film some shots at home earlier than that.  I also might film some vlog style footage towards they end of my documentary. I hope to film that on Mo...

The Pitch And Rationale (Plus Feedback)

Image
My Pitch So for my documentary I plan to document my life as a young person living in the north east of England. I want to show the audience what I do with myself as a way to show and educate people about me. This will enable my audience to either relate with me or see a different perspective of how someone spends their time. My goal for this documentary is to give people a better understanding of the type of life people live here in the North East. My only issue is that I think I spend my time differently to most other people here in the North East. I will show people how technology directly impacts my life and how I have used it to forge a path which has lead to financial gain. This documentary will be a participatory documentary. I intend to film this documentary in my house to give people a better understanding of my living situation. I will integrate my YouTube career as a way to show people more about why I use technology. I will overlay clips from my past work as a way to ma...

Audience Research For My Documentary (Including A Google Form)

Image
Audience Research So my target audience for my documentary is 16-24 year olds so I thought I'd look more into their interests and what they do. I've done this because it will help me with planning my documentary. However I have to make sure my research is correct otherwise my target audience might not like what I produce which will lead me to fail. 16 to 24 year olds What do teenagers typically do for fun? All teenagers are different. But many enjoy spending their free time doing things like shopping, going to parties, being with friends, gaming and using social media, texting, watching movies, reading and going to the beach or park. A 2009 Teen Voice study by the Search Institute found that two-thirds of 15-year-old teens had an identifiable hobby or something that sparked their interests. Hobbies might seem like small potatoes next to larger teen issues, but your teen's interests say a lot about them and the way they spend their time. Why are documentaries good for youn...

The History Of Documentaries

Image
The History Of Documentary Films Pre-1900. Early film (pre-1900) was dominated by the novelty of showing an event. They were single-shot moments captured on film: a train entering a station, a boat docking, or factory workers leaving work. These short films were called "actuality" films; the term "documentary" was not coined until 192 The first official documentary or nonfiction  narrative film was Robert Flaherty's Nanook of the North ( 1922 ), an ethnographic look at the harsh life of Canadian Inuit Eskimos living in the Arctic. Release date: 11 June 1922 (USA Director: Robert J. Flaherty), Budget $53,000, and Distributed by Pathe Exchange some of the film's scenes of obsolete customs were staged. This pioneering documentary film depicts the lives of the indigenous Inuit people of Canada's northern Quebec region. Although the production contains some fictional elements, it vividly shows how its resourceful subjects survive in such a harsh climate, rev...
