The Pitch And Rationale (Plus Feedback)

My Pitch

So for my documentary I plan to document my life as a young person living in the north east of England. I want to show the audience what I do with myself as a way to show and educate people about me. This will enable my audience to either relate with me or see a different perspective of how someone spends their time. My goal for this documentary is to give people a better understanding of the type of life people live here in the North East. My only issue is that I think I spend my time differently to most other people here in the North East. I will show people how technology directly impacts my life and how I have used it to forge a path which has lead to financial gain. This documentary will be a participatory documentary. I intend to film this documentary in my house to give people a better understanding of my living situation. I will integrate my YouTube career as a way to show people more about why I use technology. I will overlay clips from my past work as a way to make my documentary more eye catching. I plan to my experience in the media industry as a way to legitimize my points and thoughts and engage they audience. I also plan to show the negative side of social media and the digital age such as mental health issues. I also will integrate my real life day into the documentary, this means I will also show some gameplay footage and b-roll from my day to day life. I hope to a leave a lasting impact on my audience by having a dramatic ending that makes you think about your own life. This will allow the audience to relate or disagree with my points, either way it draws interaction and discussion.

Locations : My house and college.

Equipment : My phone (Galaxy S20FE), My old phone (Galaxy S8+) and my tripod.

My goal for this documentary is to hopefully educate people more on life in the NE and how technology largely dictates how we spend our time. This will hopefully leave a lasting impact on the consumer getting them to compare and think about the way they live their life and whether or not it's good for them. I intend to give the viewers an up close view of the technology I use and why I use it. I think this caters to my target audience because the documentary is for 16-24 year old's and I think it will help them to see and compare our lives. I am making this documentary for the BBC northern voices project and I believe it follows the BBC's 3 rules to inform, educate and entertain. My Documentary will use the Two-Step Flow theory to hook people, into talking about what they see and inspiring others to watch as well. Because technology is aimed at young people, this documentary will be great for BBC Three. He eye catching youthful vibe I will bring suits BBC Three to a tea and is perfect for what we are looking to achieve. I intend to give that realistic visual style to show the consumer that you don't need to be something special and have access to high end studios and equipment to create content. I intend to play the game Fall Guys because it is popular and eye catching.

Feedback

So I have shown people my idea and asked them for feedback and here is what they had to say:

Tristan Paige : I like the idea of educating people on how a young person in the north east's day to day life is heavily influenced by technology because I think it fits in well with your target audience and the BBC northern voices project. If I was to give you some advice I would focus more on culture and technology over your day to day routine.

Blake Bogard : I think your idea of showing people how technology dictates your normal day to day life is very fitting and relevant to the task at hand. I would personally make sure to show people how you started doing what you're doing, what equipment you used and how it has developed and improved over time.

Reiji Baker :  Your idea about showing people the life of a person living in the NE is quite good that said I think you should try and show some popular locations that you and other people visit around the area.

I will try my best to take their feedback into account whilst making my documentary. I will make sure to go into a bit more depth about my career on YouTube t hopefully inspire my audience to give it a go themselves.

Here is a graphic I made to give you a more simplified version of what I am doing.
